Toning your muscles: keeping in shape whilst getting enjoyment out of it
Paddling whilst standing on the board, even if you are going slowly, works the cardiovascular system and many muscles as well:
- the legs which provide stability (proprioception),
- the abdominal muscles which convey paddle force to the board
- the upper body (shoulders, arms, dorsals) which are involved in paddling movements.
If you use an inflatable SUP, using a pump for a few minutes beforehand to achieve good inflation pressure is also a good way of warming up before getting on the board.
